About the Designer
Mario Marenco created furniture that combined architectural form with functional design. Born in 1933 in Italy, he graduated in architecture from the University of Naples in 1957. He received research grants in Stockholm and Chicago before opening his own studio, DEGW, in Rome in 1960. Marenco worked across architecture, interior design, and industrial design, producing iconic pieces for manufacturers such as Mobil Girgi, Arflex, and Poltrona Frau. His work is known for its sculptural quality and modernist clarity.
